block 'n tackle knitting

 We went with friends to try wheel throwing, and I made two tiny bowls. The first is a low-fire black clay, and the second is a mix with a porcelain. It's been years since I tried doing this, and it was a lot of fun.

 This is my year to do more with my hands, in terms of making, that is (and less of clicking on the "order now" button).  My log cabin scrapghan is coming along nicely: plus a bowl I made at a ceramics workshop last month!

 These were fun! Recycled cards from last year, with tiny boxes, bits of ribbon and lots of glue stick...

 Simple seed stitch, two-strands of worsted acrylic yarn (for durability) held together and a vintage button = my new summer bag. I got complimented on it the first day I wore it to the local diner, yay!  I knit this in one piece and folded it over, seaming the sides and strap. The strap and button flap are knit stitch, for some contrasting texture. 

 Experimenting with crochet (vertical lines) on knitting, plus some mixed stitches, to enhance a plain raglan sweater:

 Just a simple vest, in a light alpaca.

 I wanted something loose, and I really liked this colour combo. 

 This one is for an upcoming hiking trip to Squamish. 

 New pens for Christmas!

 So I knit this in five days to wear to a work Zoom party, out of mainly scraps of 100 percent wool I had laying around in my stash. It was most pleasing, though my fingers were a bit stiff by the time I finished. 

 I squeaked in one more summer knit before the rains started. I think it looks great on my sweetie!

It's been awhile, busy knitting and pausing. Here are two sweaters, one for me and one for G, in favourite colours. Also, a beautiful pic of a bee in blackberry blossoms that G took. She's very talented!

Just a simple hat today, in a slip stitch non-pattern, with a pom pom. PS: this video is a great pom-pom tutorial.

Another little raglan I just finished, this time using a skein of handspun/dyed yarn I got at a festival this summer along with 6 balls of Diamond Luxury Highlander in ecru that I got on sale at my LYS. I knit it with slightly larger needles than recommended, but my standard circular for this raglan, and it turned out just fine -- airy but sturdy. The sleeves are a bit gathered, as I didn't decrease until I got to the cuff ribbing. I love raglans!

Malabrigo Rios never disappoints. Here, I added a touch of silk-merino blend from a LYS in burnt orange to bring out the warmth in the earthy colours. I adore the stitch definition here!

100 percent wool cardi I knit while on vacation in Montreal!

I've been busy doing summer things, but I did manage to finish that lap blanket in greys and eyelash yarn to match the couch. I've also started a scarfy-thing with a couple of balls of white, slubby linen blend. And I made a moss terrarium! re-potted cacti tiny moss terrarium

Fresh cinnamon rolls... Crisp cotton stockinette increases...

Took a break from knitting to plant some potatoes in a bag and re-pot some seedlings. The wrap can wait, but not too long, because I have summer sweaters to knit.

This was a quick and delightful knit in two colours of mohair yarn, one with a sparkly accent. It's squooshy and warm, and to knit it up quickly, I used an old shale lace pattern only at the ends (about 10 repeats on each end) and stuck to garter stitch in the midsection.  Colour blend section made by alternating two rows of each colour, back and forth in garter stitch. The whole scarf is fairly short, but warm and fluffy and easy to tie or wear loosely around the neck.
